Earnest Lowell Grimmett, 69, of Accoville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness. He was born on February 16, 1952, at Christian, the son of the late Ross and Effie Grimmett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Earnest Lowell “Cal” Grimmett II; and several brothers and sisters. Earnest was a 1972 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, he began his coal mining career. Earnest was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 17. He loved the Lord and attended various churches when he was able. An outdoorsman: Earnest enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. Devoted to his family, Earnest was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Beverly Kay Grimmett; one daughter, Vickie Cantrell and her husband David of Lorado; one son, Raymond Lowell Grimmett and his wife Renae of Accoville; one brother, Kenny Grimmett and his wife Annette of Bruno; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church at Lundale with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
