HANOVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County school was placed on lockdown Friday as an investigation was conducted into an ‘unknown vehicle’ parked on the premises.
Huff Consolidated Elementary and Middle School Principal Justin Endicott revealed the development in a statement also shared by the Wyoming County Board of Education on Friday afternoon, advising that a situation had arisen involving an unfamiliar vehicle present on school grounds at Huff Consolidated.
It is stated that, “out of an abundance of caution,” the school went into lockdown as authorities looked into the situation.
“Today at Huff Consolidated, a situation arose involving an unknown parked vehicle out back,” the statement read. “Out of an abundance of caution, we placed the school on lockdown to allow time for an investigation and law enforcement to do a safety check.”
It was further advised that the issue was resolved quickly, and that students were able to resume their studies as intended following the investigation by law enforcement.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff will always remain a priority, therefore we will always do everything in our power to ensure the safety of our school,” the statement concluded.
