MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– Starting today, masks are required in the Mercer County Courthouse for the second time.
An order drafted by Chief Judge William Sadler last week includes face coverings indoors in both circuit and magistrate court. Judge Sadler, Judge Derek Swope, and Judge Mark Willis signed the order.
The court is taking other measures: jurors sitting in the public section while maintaining six feet of social distancing rules, benches in the back of the courtroom are reserved for the public, and reporters and journalists sit socially distanced in the juror’s box.
All persons that enter a circuit or magistrate public area, including courtrooms, must wear a face covering.
According to the order, masks are required until further notice.
