FAYETTEVILLE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – May is National Bike Month, and the Town of Fayetteville is inviting everyone to celebrate.
Active Southern West Virginia and Arrowhead Bike Farm have organized a month-long biking challenge as a way to observe National Bike Month while also encouraging community members to get active.
Anyone who participates in the National Bike Month challenge will have the chance to win several prizes including, a basic bike tune-up from New River Bikes, a package prize from Arrowhead Bike Farm and a bag of goodies from Active Southern West Virginia.
To participate, bikers must ride on any of the local trails listed below, post a picture of them from their ride to social media and use the hashtag #FayettevilleBikeMonth2021. Each time a rider posts a picture from a different trail from the list, they will be entered to win a prize.
Bikers can choose to ride just one or all of the following Fayetteville trails:
- Arrowhead Trails (all levels)
- Fayetteville Town Park (fitness trail- beginner; park loop trail- intermediate)
- Hawks Nest Rail Trail (beginner)
- Needles Eye Park Trails (intermediate)
- Wolf Creek Park Trails (all levels)
Prize winners will be announced on June 1, 2021. Join the event or follow the Town of Fayetteville, WV on Facebook to see the winners.
To continue the festivities, community members are also invited to join Mayor Cruikshank and members of Fayetteville Town Council at the Fayetteville Town Park at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5.
During this event, participants will have the choice to walk or bike the one-mile Fayetteville Park Trail.
“This is a great chance to get active and get to know your local representatives in an informal setting,” the Facebook event states.
The Fayetteville Bike/Walk with the Mayor event has been coordinated by the Town of Fayetteville, Active Southern West Virginia and the Fayetteville Bike Pedestrian Action Committee.
