FAYETTEVILLE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Fayette County’s Fayetteville has been voted as the Best Adventure Town in West Virginia by West Virginia Living Magazine.
This is Fayetteville’s second year winning this designation.
Fayetteville restaurants highlighted in the spread included Secret Sandwich Society, Pies and Pints and The Stache and Southside Junction Tap House.
Executive Director of the Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tabitha Stover, believes the town’s location is part of the reason why they won the award and says she is excited to see recognition across the board in Fayetteville.
“We sit right on the edge of the New River Gorge, which is an adventure mecca. We have world-class white-water rafting for all skill levels, some of the best rock climbing in the world or at least the east coast, paddle boarding, hiking, and mountain biking. We are kind of in a prime position to offer all of these outdoor adventures and activities.”
Stover told Lootpress that Fayetteville has seen an increase in visitors since the start of the pandemic.
“People who normally wouldn’t venture outdoors have started getting into it. We have seen an increase in people out, hiking the trails in places they’ve never taken advantage of before. We have seen a huge push in people, especially this summer. It’s exciting to see people that are new to these activities try it and then fall in love with it.”
All of West Virginia Living’s Best of West Virginia 2020 awards are Reader’s Choice, meaning the winners are voted on by the people. Stover is happy to know that residents and visitors are seeing and enjoying everything that Fayetteville has to offer.
“I am super stoked and thrilled to have it a second year in a row. We are really excited to see new people coming in and people that have been coming in for years out there making memories. I think we are going to be thriving and growing our outdoor adventures here.”
