The first day clearly is not the sole test, but Republican Secretary of State Mac Warner’s office deserves “hats off” for a generally sparkling performance in the candidacy filing period.
No sooner had some candidates gotten their social media candidacy announcements up than Warner’s office updated with the same information.
Oldsters will recall the days when we waited for Tuesday’s newspaper to learn who filed on Monday’s opening day. No more. How refreshing.
Just to skip a name or two, we are already excited to know that Senate Minority Leader Democrat Stephen Baldwin is taking on Republican Vincent Deeds for State Senate District Ten.
And there will be more candidates which we can we can almost watch as the races develop.
In all, 61 candidates were processed by close of the day Monday. Remarkable indeed.
A major salute to all involved.
