MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On November 5th, Mingo County Officer Jacob Miller and Sgt. Larry Harvey investigated a complaint of a non-resident killing a buck in Mingo County a couple of days earlier without the required licenses. Before the officers located the individual, they confirmed that he had purchased a hunting license on the night of November 3rd.
After further investigation and questioning, the Florida resident admitted to killing a 9 point buck on the morning of November 3rd and then purchasing his license that night so he could game check the deer. He was issued four citations related to the illegal kill. The buck’s inside spread was sufficient to require the $2,500 enhanced penalty, which is in addition to the $500 replacement fee.
The Florida man appeared before a Mingo County magistrate on November 8th and paid a total of $3,380.50 for his fines, court costs, and replacement costs.
