Gary D. Slade, 81, of Chesapeake, passed away Monday, July 19th, 2021. Raised in Bluefield, VA, he was the son of the late John H. Slade and Virginia Lucille Slade. He is preceded in death by siblings Brenda K. White and William P. Slade. Gary retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 80 as a Journeyman Electrician after 55 years of service. Gary enjoyed NASCAR, had a passion for Westerns, and loved entertaining the kids with his holiday gadgets. He is survived by his loving wife, Gayla Slade, son, Larry Slade, sister, Maxine Bourne of Bluefield West Virginia and her son Richard Jr. and her grandchildren Richard III and Nicholas, grandchildren Cailey Slade, Michelle Smith and fiance Nicky Reed, Patrick Smith and Casey, and Mackenzi Powers, and family members Ronda and Larry White, Adam and Katherine White and children, Lindsey Starnes and daughter, Jim and Angelica Via, Jessie Via, Jeremy Via, and Tommy and Jeanette Powers. The visitation was held Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at 1pm at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake, followed by a Memorial Service at 2pm. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Oakwood Cemetery, in Princeton, WV. Those attending the graveside service are requested to meet at the cemetery by service hour.
