BECKLEY, WV- (LOOTPRESS)- The race for the 4th District of the West Virginia State Senate has been officially called for Republican candidate Amy Nichole Grady (R). Grady, who defeated Senate Majority Leader Mitch Carmichael (R) by a margin of 4.3% in the June 9th Primary Election, defeated challenger Bruce Ashworth (D) by a margin of 47%. Grady, who first ran to represent West Virginia’s 4th Senate District in 2018, will be serving her first term as an elected official in the West Virginia State Senate.
Grady narrowly defeated incumbent Senator Mitch Carmichael (R) in the June 2020 Primary Election. Grady, a teacher, was endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers- West Virginia, one of only two Republican Senatorial Candidates to receive an endorsement from the union.
Grady will represent the 4th Senate District alongside Eric Tarr (R), serving Jackson, Mason, Putnam, and Roane counties.
