CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Petersburg man will spend at least 15 years in prison after being sentenced this month in an arson that injured a firefighter.
Christopher Thomas Burns pleaded guilty in January to charges that he had set a vacant home in Petersburg on fire on May 31, 2022. While battling that fire, a Petersburg Fire Department firefighter was injured. The fire caused an estimated $30,000.00 worth of damage to the home.
The scene was investigated by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office, which arrested Burns.
After pleading guilty to the crimes, Burns was sentenced on March 9th in Grant County Circuit Court to serve ten years in prison on a 1st Degree Arson charge and five years in prison for causing injury causing arson charge. The terms will run consecutively.
