PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Gregory A. Bishop, Marine Corps veteran, former West Virginia State Trooper, and recently retired Prosecuting Attorney for Wyoming County, announced today that he is officially running for the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 35.
“I have dedicated my entire adult life to serving others—first in the United States Marine Corps, where I served our country during demanding and challenging assignments, and later as a West Virginia State Trooper, upholding law and order here at home. Most recently, I have had the honor of serving as the Prosecuting Attorney for Wyoming County, working each day to handle the criminal business of my home county,” Bishop said.
“After completing the mission of strengthening the Prosecutor’s Office and ensuring a responsible transition, I knew I still had more to give to the people of Wyoming County. Stepping away from that role was not an end—it was a completion of one chapter of service and the beginning of another. I am now ready to take that same sense of duty and purpose to Charleston on behalf of District 35.”
Bishop emphasized that each chapter of his public service has been mission-driven. “These roles were not merely jobs—they were missions,” he said. “In each, I accepted the hard path not for recognition, but because I believe that duty is the foundation of a principled life.
Service requires sacrifice. It demands selflessness. And I have never shied away from that call.” Bishop said he is running for the House of Delegates because the people of Wyoming County deserve representation rooted in action.
“Our communities need principled leadership grounded in results,” Bishop said. “I will fight for our values, stand up for working families, and always put community, country, and Constitution above all else.”
He added that his campaign will focus on improving public service, strengthening public safety, supporting economic opportunity, and ensuring that rural voices are heard in Charleston.
“This campaign is not about me—it is about us,” Bishop said. “It is about building a future worthy of the sacrifices so many have made for our state and our nation.”
