Guilford Allen “Al” Harman, 75, of Sunny View Court, Bluefield went to home to be with his Lord and Savior late Friday night, May 14, 2021 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born October 6, 1945 in Marlinton, he was the son of the late Allen & Mary Frances Byrd Harman. Al entered the service at the young age of 17 to serve with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict. Early in Al’s career, he worked as a coal miner and then for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph and later moved to New Mexico working for the newspaper while he started his career for KTNM radio. He then moved back to the area, shortly upon his return, he began his career with WAEY, where he had a blue grass program on Sunday evening for many years. He retired from WAEY radio after a successful career. He also was a former employee for Everlasting Monument Company in Princeton. Al was a faithful and devoted member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton. He had served on the Deacon Board of the church as well with the Awana Clubs, but his real love was working with the Bus Ministry, all the kids loved him, and he loved all the kids. Al was a member of the Mercer County Honor Guard and active with the Marine Corp League, Chapter 957 of Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings: Willie Mae Harman, Barbara Doolittle, Myrtle Frances Harman, Roger Wayne Harman & Ray Edward Harman. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Lois Townley Harman, daughter Tina Marie Horvath, three grandchildren Bradley Dakoda Alexander Harman (Rebecca), Emily Madison Horvath & Aiden Michael Allen Horvath. One great grandchild, Greyson Harman. Siblings Allene Seese, Robert & Diane Harman, Steve & Gloria Harman, Duncan & Kim Harman, David & Sherry Harman. along with a host of nieces and nephews. His brother in laws Ron Townley (Carol) & Donnie Townley (Janet). Services to celebrate the life of Al Harman will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Maranatha Baptist Church on the Oakvale Road in Princeton with Pastors Marvin Mills and J.P. Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Athens Cemetery in Athens with the Marine Corp League rendering military honors. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be men of the church.
