MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The jury reached a guilty verdict on May 6th in the trial of Timothy Hager. Hager shot and killed Joshua Rasnick with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle.
This incident happened in July of 2019. Police responded to a 911 call on Stoney Ridge Road in Bluefield, WV. An altercation happened between Rasnick and Hager, in which Hager took the AK-47 and shot at Rasnick six times.
Assistant Prosecutor Lauren Lynch believes the jury made the right decision.
“We think it was an intentional killing of Josh Rasnick…We hope that this will provide a little bit of closure for the family,” said Lynch.
Lead Defense Ryan Flanigan with the Flanigan Law Office declined to comment.
A guilty verdict of second-degree murder carries a sentence of ten to forty years. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 2nd, 2021.
