Helen Marie Spears, 91, of Lerona, formerly of McDowell County, died peacefully Sunday evening, October 24, 2021, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born March 9, 1930, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Wallace Addair and Belva Roxie White Addair. Helen was educated in McDowell County and had attended college for two years. She was a former school teacher and retired as a cook at Bartley School. She was a member of Voice of Calvary Baptist Church in Princeton. While her health permitted, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Berlin Vincent Spears; Three children, Kerry Vincent Spears, Terry Weston Spears and Barry Kent Spears; One brother, Howard S. Addair and one grandchild. Those left to cherish her memory, two loving children, Pam Smith and Dean Spears; Seven loving grandchildren; Twelve loving great-grandchildren; Two loving great-great-grandchildren; One loving brother, Earl Lee Addair. The family has honored Helen’s request, that she be cremated with a family memorial service to be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com.
