Herman Gene Gillenwater 89 of Peach Creek, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 2, 2021 at his daughters residence at Peach Creek, WV. He was born on July 7, 1932 at Lincoln County, WV the son of the late Den and Ella Hager Gillenwater.
Herman was retired from CSX and an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, fourwheeling, and spending time camping. He was a Veteran of The United States Army and 32° Mason and a member of the Aracoma Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M. in Logan, WV, and a member of Leet Church of Christ. Herman was always outdoors and loved spending time in his garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Gillenwater; son, Randy Gillenwater; and daughter, Beverly Ann Gillenwater.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Gary (Brenda) Gillenwater; one daughter, Nancy (David) Mullins; four grandchildren, Alex (Samantha) Gillenwater, Joshua Gillenwater, Christopher (Jessica) Mullins, and Sarah (Logan) Mullins; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Jordan) Workman, Cruz Gillenwater, and Isabel Gillenwater; and three great-great-grandchildren, Vanessa Workman, Braylon Workman, and Casey Workman. Additionally, Herman also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Alex Gillenwater, Josh Gillenwater, Chris Mullins, Ed Stapleton, Jake Lyall, and Logan Wakham.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV with James Thomas and Bethel Purkey officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV.
