HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Hinton woman was arrested on a domestic battery charge after an unusual call to authorities from an out-of-state witness who overheard the alleged incident online.
According to the Hinton Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence call on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at a residence on Fayette Street. The report was made by a man of Albany, Georgia, who told 911 dispatchers he overheard a disturbance between a husband, and his wife, Michelle-Lae Norsworthy, while speaking with the victim through the social platform Discord.
Upon arrival, Officer J.M. Bruce separated the couple and conducted interviews. The husband told police the argument began over his online activity before Norsworthy struck him across the face. He added that the witness in Georgia was on the Discord call and could confirm what happened.
When contacted by police, the witness corroborated the victim’s account and said he distinctly heard the slap over the call. He then asked the victim for his address and immediately reported the incident to Summers County 911.
Based on the statements and corroborating evidence, Officer Bruce determined a domestic battery had occurred. Norsworthy was placed under arrest and charged with Domestic Battery.
