HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Crew members with the Huntington Fire Department had their work cut out for them Wednesday evening when they were tasked with taking on multiple residential structure fires.
The Huntington Fire Department reports that crews were first dispatched in response to a 9:00pm fire alarm in the 1900 block of 9th Avenue. Less than one hour later at 9:50pm, crews received calls regarding a structure fire in the 800 block of 24th Street.
Heavy smoke and fire awaited responding crew members at both scenes, and responses were hindered by downed power lines causing obstructions at both sites.
All responding firefighters are reportedly safe and accounted for, and no occupants were discovered at the location of either incident.
The Huntington City Fire Marshal is said to be conducting analysis currently in conjunction with law enforcement regarding both structure fire instances.
