CLIFFTOP, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Whether you are a native West Virginian or someone who lives thousands of miles away from Clifftop, you have most likely seen a photo of the iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park.
The grist mill is said to be one of the most photographed places in the world. The mill, constructed in 1976 along the bank of Glade Creek was built to replicate Cooper’s Mill which was an old mill that operated across the creek nearby the Babcock State Park Administration Building.
What’s special about this mill is that many of the pieces used to construct it were brought in from different parts of the state.
The main wooden structure of the building came from the Stoney Creek Grist Mill in Pocahontas County, the water wheel came from Run Grist Mill in Grant County and other parts came from the Onego Grist Mill in Pendleton County.
The iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill is still in operation today and during open hours, visitors can get a tour of the mill. The mill provides a breathtaking view during all four seasons.
The Glade Creek Grist Mill is located at 486 Babcock Rd, Clifftop, WV 25831.
