Ina Ruth Skidmore, 91, of Hinton passed away Sunday February 4, 2024 at the home of her son in Covington, VA following a long illness.
Born February 25, 1932 in Wendel, WV, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Brady Rider.
Ruth was co-owner of Skid’s Bait Store in Hinton for many years along with her late husband. She was a longtime member of Bellepoint Baptist Church in Hinton and was an avid gardener and enjoyed craft shows.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vern “Babe” Skidmore; one daughter, Mary Skidmore; granddaughter, Sarina Skidmore; grandson, Larry Carter; three brothers, Roy Thorn and Donald and John Rider.
Left to cherish her memory include two sons, James Skidmore and wife Mary Grace of Covington, VA and Bailey Skidmore of Walton, WV; two sisters, Nina “Lou” Wiseman of Anderson, SC and Eva Karakiozios of Clarksburg, WV; sister-in-law, Ruby Rider of Waynesburg, PA; five grandchildren, Jeremy J. Skidmore and wife Marcie, Joseph L. Skidmore and wife Beckley, Corey Carter, Jennifer L. Holestin and husband Terry and Starr Carter; 18 great grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday February 7, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Gary Trout officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Family will serve as pallbearers.
