NEW MARTINSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia has announced an upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Wetzel County remote courtroom location.
The announcement follows last week’s ribbon-cutting for the entity’s recently established Raleigh County remote location.
The event is set to occur on Friday, October 21, 2022.
The full release as announced by the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia on Wednesday can be seen below, and additional LOOTPRESS coverage of the Intermediate Court of Appeals can be found here.
“There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, for the new Wetzel County satellite courtroom that will be used by the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia (ICA).
Wetzel County Commission President Lisa Heasley, the three ICA Judges, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Hutchison will attend.
The media is invited to attend. The event will also be on Facebook Live on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia Judiciary Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/wvjudiciary.
The event will be in a magistrate court courtroom on the third floor of the building at 257 Main Street, New Martinsville.
Tours will be given of the new ICA courtroom nearby, including a demonstration of the video conferencing system between the satellite courtroom and the main ICA courtroom in Charleston.
The ICA began operating July 1, 2022. The three ICA Judges use a courtroom in the West Virginia Judicial Tower in Charleston. Litigants have the choice of traveling to Charleston for proceedings or using one of five satellite courtrooms around the state.
Those courtrooms are in Beckley in Raleigh County, Petersburg in Grant County, Weston in Lewis County, Berkeley Springs in Morgan County, and New Martinsville in Wetzel County.
Each satellite courtroom is in a space dedicated to the ICA, has video conferencing equipment that provides secure connections to the Charleston ICA courtroom, has furniture built by Herbert Hoover High School students, and has bailiffs who will be present during all proceedings.”
