CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Republican Jeff Disibbio officially filed Wednesday to run for the West Virginia State Senate in District 6, a seat representing Mercer, McDowell, Mingo, and parts of Wayne County.
A lifelong West Virginian and Mercer County resident, Disibbio said he is running to focus on practical solutions aimed at revitalizing Southern West Virginia’s economy, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting education.
“I believe in finding practical solutions to the issues our area is facing today,” Disibbio said. “Through job creation and infrastructure development, and by supporting all levels of education—including vocational and secondary education—we can build a stronger workforce and give our students opportunities right here at home.”
Disibbio said many communities across the district continue to face basic challenges, including aging infrastructure and limited access to essential services.
“We need honest conversations about helping families in our communities,” he said. “It’s hard to imagine that in 2025 there are still households without running water, crumbling roads, and schools in need of major repairs. We need good-paying jobs and modern infrastructure to attract employers and improve quality of life for everyone.”
Disibbio currently serves as President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of the Two Virginias and teaches criminal justice at Bluefield University. His professional background also includes prior service as a trust officer at First Century Bank and First Community Bank, as well as leadership on initiatives supporting small businesses and workforce development.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law from Radford University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bluefield College, and a law degree from Regent University Robertson School of Law.
Disibbio currently serves on multiple boards, including the Mercer County Planning Commission, Mercer County Tourism Board, Mercer County Building Commission, Mercer County Solid Waste Authority, City of Bluefield Building Commission, and the Craft Memorial Library Board. He also serves as West Virginia District Governor for Rotary International District 7545.
Disibbio and his family live in Bluefield, West Virginia.
