BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The 28th Annual Kids Classic Festival will kick-off at Beckley Little League on Sunday, September 5, 2021. The week-long festival offers family activities throughout the community, including contests, booths, games, parades, entertainment, fireworks and more.
A variety of activities will be held at the league on Sunday.
Kids can step up to the plate to play in this year’s Kids Classic home run derby.
The derby is open to several age divisions from kids- ages eight and up- to adults. The derby fee is $5 per person, with half of the fee going back to each age division, giving players a chance to win some money. Winners will also receive a medal.
The derby will begin at 7 p.m.
Other activities at the fields will include a soccer kick contest at 7:30 p.m. Shady Spring High School Soccer Boosters will be helping with the contest, which is open to those ages eight to 18. Like the derby, half of the $5 entry fee will go back into the division for cash prizes. Winners will also receive a medal.
The Sparklers cheerleaders will provide a cheering demonstration at 8 p.m., and Woodrow Wilson High School baton twirler Anisa Petties will twirl fire at 8:45 p.m.
The evening will conclude with fireworks at 9 p.m. in the Little League/ Convention Center Area.
This year’s festival theme is “America Strong” to correspond with the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Festival activities will conclude on Saturday, September 11.
Beckley Little League is located at 311 Armory Drive in Beckley.
