HAMLIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Lincoln County Assessor was jailed earlier today on domestic violence charges, according to the county sheriff.
Assessor Jereme Browning is charged with beating his son. The incident allegedly occurred in March after Browning is accused of having a verbal altercation with his wife.
Magistrate court records accuse Browning of screaming and slamming doors while intoxicated before allegedly getting into a physical altercation with his son.
The Assessor was taken into custody about 1 p.m bby Lincoln County deputies, Linville said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing by West Virginia State Police.
Browning was appointed to the position in 2020 by the Lincoln County Commission and won the election the following year.
