JUMPING BRANCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A local country music artist from Summers County has recently seen his music published on major publishing platforms.
Cody Bragg, a 31-year-old nurse, from Jumping Branch, WV has always had a love for country music and the guitar, even teaching himself how to play. “I got my first guitar after graduating high school and taught myself how to play throughout college. I’ve been trying to play music since graduating college and began writing music in 2016,” Bragg said. “I specialize in country music. I mostly can just play guitar and sing but I’ve been trying to learn mandolin as well.”
Bragg said he had to step back from music for a while due to a disease that prevented him from doing so. “I started to write music after having to take a break from being able [to] even play my guitar from 2014 to about 2016 because I was in the middle of being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis because I didn’t have enough strength in my hands to play.”
Bragg persevered through his diagnosis and is now getting to see his music published on major streaming platforms. His new single, “Gunslingin’ Cowboy” will be released on Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, and YouTube.
“It’s cool to know that I’ve created something that people enjoy listening to. I want my community to know that these songs come from growing up in this place and loving living in southern WV,” Bragg explained.
Bragg says that his new single was inspired by things he saw at a younger age. “[It] was written specifically from thinking about how I watched all those old Cowboy shows and movies and thinking about how we used to pretend that we were those cowboys saving the day in those old western towns in the Wild West.”
Braggs’ single, “Gunslingin’ Cowboy,” became publicly available for streaming on all platforms Friday, March 31, 2023.
