BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Barbour County man is facing multiple felony charges after a woman reported being violently sexually assaulted following a meeting arranged through social media.
According to law enforcement, Jacob Boyd is accused of sexually assaulting the victim after picking her up from a bar in Morgantown. The two had been communicating through Facebook Messenger prior to meeting in person.
Investigators say Boyd drove the victim to his camper in Barbour County, where she believed they would talk privately about her ongoing divorce. The victim told authorities that Boyd quickly lost interest in conversation and suddenly became aggressive, picking her up and throwing her onto a bed.
The victim reported that Boyd forcefully undressed her, restrained her by holding her arm behind her back, and sexually assaulted her despite repeated verbal pleas to stop. She stated she told him multiple times that she did not want to have sex, but the assault continued.
According to the victim, Boyd also attempted to force her to perform oral sex, which she repeatedly refused. He then continued the assault, eventually pushing her away once he was finished. The victim said she remained on the bed afterward because she had no transportation and was too frightened to leave.
Later that morning, the victim reported Boyd made a second attempt, retrieving a condom from a drawer and holding her down while trying again to have sex. She said the force used during this incident caused bruising that had not been present earlier. Boyd eventually stopped and told her to get dressed before driving her back to her vehicle in Morgantown.
After returning to her car and later going to a friend’s apartment, the victim sought medical treatment at Mon General Hospital, where a sexual assault forensic exam was performed. Medical staff documented bruises on her arms and legs, along with scratch marks, consistent with her account.
The victim also told investigators that Boyd repeatedly asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.
Following the investigation, Boyd has been charged with:
-
Sexual Assault in the Second Degree
-
Attempted Sexual Assault in the Second Degree
-
Assault During the Commission of a Felony
