FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oak Hill man was sentenced to prison Monday on charges pertaining to the theft of property after a series of break-ins.
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Fayette County reports that, on November 11, 2020 and November 12, 2022, authorities with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated a series of break-ins with occurred at a residence located at the Hilltop area of Oak Hill.
The investigation led officers to determine that Shane Jones, as well as another individual, had entered the residence, as well as an outbuilding, and had stolen property which included firearms valued in excess of $1000.
Some of the stolen property was successfully recovered at a nearby trailer in which Jones had been staying.
On Monday, November 7, 2022, Shane S. Jones, 32 of Oak Hill, West Virginia, was sentenced by Judge Thomas H. Ewing to no less than 1 year and no more than 10 years in prison for the felony offense of Grand Larceny, and no less than 1 year but no more than 5 years in prison for the felony offense of Conspiracy.
The defendant pled guilty to these offenses on July 21, 2022, and the sentences are to be served consecutively. As such, Jones must serve a minimum of 2 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
These crimes were investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, and the case was prosecuted by Fayette County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Sarah F. Smith.
