NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is charged after walking around naked in the streets, running up to a child, showing him his genitals.
On Monday, August 19, 2024, State Police responded to a call about a man who was showing his genitals to a young boy.
Before arriving at the scene, the officer received a CPS referral indicating that a man named Travis Carte, later identified as the defendant, had been walking around naked in the street and allegedly exposed himself to the young child.
Upon arrival, neighbors informed the officer that the defendant had moved from that address and was now staying in a holler in Gilboa, Nicholas County, WV. The officer found the defendant’s residence across from 41 Hutchinson Branch Rd, Gilboa, WV, and contacted the reported victim’s parents.
The officer obtained a written statement from the victim’s mother, who explained that her son was playing outside when the defendant approached him naked and shook his genitals at him. She also reported that on another occasion, the defendant appeared to be under the influence of drugs while running naked in front of their home. These incidents reportedly occurred around August 7, 2024.
The officer then recorded an audio statement from the juvenile victim in the presence of his parents and with their consent. During this statement, the child recounted seeing the defendant standing naked in the open and described how the defendant ran up to him and shook his genitals.
As a result, the officer is charging the defendant with Indecent Exposure.
