BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – With the deadline to file having come and gone, the candidates for city office have officially been determined for inclusion on the May election ballot.
The field will be a particularly crowded one during this election cycle with a healthy mix of new, current, and former public officials having declared intentions to run in the upcoming city election.
Councilman Robert Dunlap has arguably garnered the greatest name recognition among the five mayoral candidates at the time of writing, with Michael Smith, Matthew Lahn, Ryan Neal, and Marvin Robinson having thrown their hat in the proverbial ring as well.
Current Council members At-Large, Sherrie Hunter and Cody Reedy are the sole At-Large candidates, while Ward 1 will be between incumbent Councilman, Tom Sopher and candidates, Kristin O’Neal and former educator Natalie Coots.
Candidates for Ward 2 include Roy Redden, Sam Corey, Nancy Shumaker- Dingus, and Bob Canter, while Ward 3 candidates will include Emily Tate, Tom Moseley, Arran Adams, Frank Williams.
Danielle Stewart, Keri Berry, and Kip Buchanon will be vying for the Ward 4 position, and Tina Pannell, Kris Kincaid, City Council-regular, Mary West, former City Councilman, Tim Berry, and incumbent Councilwoman, Janine Bullock will be running for Ward 5.
