MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– Unidentified culprits damaged park equipment at Princeton and Glenwood Park located in Princeton.
Glenwood Recreational Park was vandalized on Wednesday, July 21, and Princeton City Park was vandalized late at night on June 24. The damages include tipped picnic benches, clogged toilets, broken faucets, and trash in the grassed area.
Mercer County Commissioner Greg Puckett says that this is disappointing for the community.
“It’s disheartening. Sometimes people have different ideas of fun,” said Puckett.
According to Puckett, a culprit came forward but believes more were involved. The damages to both parks total about $1,000. Glenwood Park started and completed repairs to damaged equipment last week.
Now, Puckett wonders what measures have to be put in place, so it doesn’t happen again.
“Going forward, we have to protect the parks. We’ll have to talk about added security measures, maybe security cameras, and find other ways. It’s a shame we have to do that, but it’s an investment for safety,” finished Puckett.
