Michael William Gandee Sr, born on April 12, 1951, of Nitro, WV, concluded his earthly journey on February 1st, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
During his youth, Michael exhibited a profound passion for music, serving as a skilled and talented bassist for several local bands. His musical talents brought joy to many, leaving a melodic imprint on the memories of those who swayed to the rhythm of his bass.
Above all else, Michael treasured his role as a father to his surviving children; Michael Jr Gandee (Melissa), Rachel Simons (Jeff), Shawn Gandee, Noah Gandee (Jen), and Hannah Eddleman (Dustin). He embraced the responsibilities of parenthood with love, playfulness, and boundless support. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Madison, Tony (Carter, Braylon), Jace, Jack, and Willow.
Michael had a vibrant personality that was amplified by his wonderful sense of humor. His fondness for Looney Tunes and Sci-Fi movies showcased his playful and lighthearted approach to life. Michael had a mischievous side, forever finding joy in pranks and shenanigans, leaving those around him laughing and embracing the spontaneity of the moment.
A skilled craftsman and avid tinkerer, Michael possessed an innate curiosity and a passion for building and creating. From his humble workshop, he meticulously constructed projects that reflected his ingenuity and practicality. His love for tinkering was not only a pastime but a personal endeavor that allowed him to express his creativity and pursue his multitude of interests.
Beyond his mischievous nature and tinkering pursuits, Michael was known for his kind and compassionate spirit. He possessed a generosity that touched the lives of those who knew him, offering a helping hand or a listening ear without hesitation. His acts of kindness resonated with all, leaving an enduring imprint on their hearts.
As we mourn the loss of Michael William Gandee, let us also celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Michael’s life on Sunday, February 11, 2024, beginning at 3:00 PM at Cooke Funeral Home & Crematorium, Nitro with Pastor Dave McCormick officiating.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
