HICO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Midland Trail community is coming together following the loss of a student-athlete on Tuesday.
Midland Trail High School announced the passing of one of its students on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Midland Trail Football, the student was a member of the football team.
The football team released the following statement Tuesday evening:
“Tonight, our football family, school and community is hurting.
Today we lost one of our own — a teammate, a brother, a young man who wore our colors with pride. In a small school and a close community like ours, this loss reaches far beyond the football field. It touches every locker, every classroom, every home, every heart.
As coaches, we talk a lot about family. About brotherhood. About being there for one another on and off the field. Today, that word family carries more weight than ever. Our hearts are broken, but we stand together — players, coaches, teachers, classmates, and community — just as we have always taught these young men to do.
He was more than a football player. He was a presence in our program, a part of our story, and he will forever be part of who we are. His memory will live on in our huddle, in our traditions, and in the way we continue to love and support one another.
Please keep his family, friends, and teammates in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Hug your kids a little tighter tonight. Tell the people around you that you love them.
We are one team. One family. And we will walk through this together.
Not a day went by that we didn’t tell our kids we love them….Aidan, we love you. 💙🏈
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
The school has encouraged students, parents, and community members to come out to Ansted Baptist Church on Tuesday evening at 6 PM to gather together as a community.
Following the news, area schools including Oak Hill High School and Summers County, have shared their condolences with the community.
