WILLIAMSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Mingo County Commission announced Friday that spay/neuter vouchers will begin being issued on Monday, July 11, 2022.
Vouchers will be issued on a first come, first served basis in Room 308-B of the Mingo County Courthouse from 10:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:30pm each business day so long as funds remain.
Voucher will only be available to residents of Mingo County who show up in person with a photo ID as proof of residence. Vouchers cannot be obtained on someone else’s behalf, the recipient must appear themselves to receive a voucher.
While the program is offered to all residents of Mingo County, the requirement that low-income residents be considered top-priority should be noted. Applicants who receive public assistance should be able to provide information on the programs for which they are enrolled.
A limit of two vouchers per household will be in place, and all procedures should be performed by November 5, 2022 in order for vouchers to remain effective. Vouchers will void after this date.
The voucher program will cover the medical procedure of the spay/neutering. Required medications and/or vaccinations are the responsibility of the pet’s owner.
Community cats will also be eligible for the program, but the Commission has made clear that a “catch and release” project will not be implemented. Community cats will need to be caught and transported to the veterinarian’s office in order to participate in the spay/neuter program.
This program has been made possible by the Mingo County Commission in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s Spay/Neuter Grant Program.
