ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman reported missing in Randolph County earlier this month was found deceased on March 25, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Trooper T.J. Sclimenti responded to a missing persons complaint around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, at a residence on Rolling Lane in Elkins.
Authorities said Gabriellie L. Allen, 64, of Vienna, was last seen shortly after midnight at the residence.
Officials were informed that Allen had been diagnosed with mental health issues and was taking several medications at the time of her disappearance.
Her personal belongings were later discovered along U.S. Route 219, leading search crews to focus efforts in that area.
Multiple agencies, including search and rescue teams and K-9 units, participated in the search, but Allen was not located during the initial efforts.
According to an update released by authorities, Allen was found deceased at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.
A private landowner discovered her on property adjacent to U.S. Route 219 along an abandoned log road, not far from where search operations had been concentrated.
Officials said next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
