MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Montgomery man has been charged with domestic assault after police discovered his girlfriend injured and in need of medical attention during a welfare check Friday morning, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Around 11:18 a.m. on November 7, 2025, Lt. Huffman responded to an apartment after the victim’s son requested officers check on his mother. He told police his mother sent him a disturbing text at 2:52 a.m., claiming she needed help and believed her boyfriend, Billy Bryant, was overdosing her.
When Lt. Huffman arrived, he found the woman with a large knot above her left eyebrow, abrasions on her left eye and nose, and significant swelling around her face. When asked how she was injured, she said she didn’t know and had woken up that way.
She was taken to Montgomery General Hospital, where staff diagnosed her with a broken nose and a concussion.
According to police, further investigation revealed that on November 6, Bryant had threatened to punch her in the face inside their apartment. She also reported a previous incident from June 2025, in which Bryant allegedly strangled her during an altercation in London, Kanawha County, though she stated she did not lose consciousness.
After being discharged from the hospital, she obtained an Emergency Domestic Violence Petition, which was served to Bryant later that evening by Montgomery Police.
Bryant now faces one count of domestic assault for the incident that occurred inside the Montgomery residence.
