HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Monday’s meeting of the Huntington City Council saw the election of City Councilwoman Holly Smith as council chairwoman, as well as that of Sarah Walling as vice chairwoman.
First elected to council in 2020, Mount served as vice chairwoman for the council in 2021 and will be assuming the chairwoman position for a second year.
‘It is an honor and a privilege to continue to serve in this capacity on City Council,’ said Mount, whose district – District 6 – includes the Gallaher Village, Forest Hills, Southeast Hills and Enslow Park areas of Huntington.
’I look forward to 2023 and all that we can accomplish together as a council for the Jewel City, and I’m thrilled to have Ms. Walling on this journey with me,” she continued.
Walling – a representative District 4, which is comprised of the Southside and Harveytown areas – was selected in 2021 to fill the unexpired term of Councilwoman Jennifer Wheeler.
‘Huntington has made significant progress under Ms. Mount’s effective, compassionate and educated leadership,’ Walling said. ‘I appreciate the confidence and trust our fellow council members have placed in us, and I am excited to continue our momentum this year.’
