HUTTONSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces charges of possession following a reported shooting on Sunday in Randolph County.
According to Deputy Pingley of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, 06/04/2023, a shots fired call was dispatched by 911 on Point Mountain Road.
The caller reported having heard a single gunshot near their residence when a family member went outside to investigate the scene and observed two ATVs, one of which had a trailer attached. One of the drivers was identified by the individual as Gary Cool.
The ATVs continued toward Huttonsville as Sgt. Cogar and Deputy Pingley responded to the location.
“I had prior knowledge that Mr. Cool is a convicted felon and therefore not allowed to possess a firearm,” said Deputy Pingley, who observed an ATV traveling in the direction of Huttonsville with an attached trailer.
A traffic stop was conducted on this vehicle approximately a half mile before an upcoming gas station. One driver and one passenger could be observed inside the vehicle. The driver – identified as Gary Cool – was advised why he was stopped, and a search was conducted for a possible weapon.
During this firearm search, a clear crystal-like substance was reportedly respected in Mr. Cool’s right pocket. The substance in question was wrapped in a plastic bag.
Mr. Cool advised that the substance contained was in fact methamphetamine, and that he also had five-dollar bills in his possession which contained crushed methamphetamine.
The items were removed and placed into evidence and Mr. Cool was then subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail. Cool has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
