The striking of midnight 2021 signaled no change in the secretive operations of West Virginia Republicans.
In Wood County, where the duly chosen county GOP Chair, Rob Cornelius, was “removed” months ago by former State Chair Melody Potter, a secret, special meeting of the Republican Executive Committee is being held this evening, according to an announcement.
The meeting notice follows:
“A special meeting of WCREC is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 at 6 p.m.
“The meeting will take place at the Conley Fabrication facility and State Chairman Mark Harris will be attending.
“This meeting is scheduled to discuss specific business issues for WCREC and is intended for Committee members only: Please do not invite guests.

So much for inclusion; so much for transparency. The state Republicans continue to insist, apparently, that they are a private corporation. That despite the fact that they were chartered by the state.
Rank and file Republicans obviously are not welcome by state Republican leadership.

It seems to me it’s high time one or more of the Republican officials dashing about the state running for office in 2022 and/or 2024, speak out about this outrage.
After all, it’s your state Chair encouraging the veil of secrecy. It’s your executive committees operating like secret societies.
Wood’s alleged Chair, Roger Conley, is a state legislator who should know better.
