OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Main Street business in Oak Hill has temporarily closed after city officials raised concerns about the structural integrity of a neighboring building.
According to a Facebook post from business owner Rhonda Mahony, the City of Oak Hill and the Oak Hill Police Department recommended that she temporarily vacate her building while the issue is evaluated.
Mahony operates New River Gorge (NRG) 5 Needle Protocol, also known as 5NP, located on Main Street.
In her post, Mahony said she received an official notice advising closure due to nearby structural damage.
“Yesterday I received an official notice from the City of Oak Hill & OHPD recommending temporary vacating of my building due to structural concerns. The back corner of the building behind mine has begun to collapse, and until a structural engineer can inspect and confirm my space is safe, I have to close my doors.”
Mahony said the situation was unexpected and emotionally difficult, noting the effort she has put into building her business and serving the community.
“This is absolutely not something I ever imagined facing. I’ve put so much love, sweat, and sacrifice into building this space and serving this community. Right now, there are a lot of unknowns, and honestly… my heart is heavy.”
She asked for patience, support, and prayers as the situation unfolds.
“I’m asking for your patience, understanding, and most of all your prayers.
Prayers for safety.
Prayers for good news.
Prayers that everything I’ve worked so hard for isn’t taken away.”
City officials have reportedly indicated that other nearby businesses may also be affected by the structural issue.
The closure is temporary pending an evaluation by a structural engineer.
