FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jeffery T. Mauzy, Prosecuting Attorney, announces that on November 6, 2020, Brian A. Vanover, age 42, of Oak Hill, entered guilty pleas to the felony crimes of kidnapping and robbery in the first degree. He was sentenced to thirty (30) years in prison by Judge Thomas H. Ewing.
On September 14, 2019, Vanover forced his father at knifepoint to drive to two area banks to withdraw money from his father’s bank accounts. After taking the money from his father, he fled on foot but was apprehended after returning to his parents’ home the following day.
The West Virginia State Police investigated this crime. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Jennifer D. Crane and Sarah F. Smith.
