WINFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A motor vehicle crash Monday evening on U.S. Route 35 has resulted in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of one man.
According to a statement from the Teays Valley Fire Department, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment on U.S. Route 35 in Teays Valley on Monday evening that involved a tractor-trailer and a sedan.
The sedan pulled out in front of an oncoming tractor-trailer and the driver of the truck was unable to stop in time resulting in a collision.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as 80-year-old Lois Lee Slater of Point Pleasant. There was also a 21-year-old passenger in the vehicle that was flown to Cabell-Huntington Hospital via HealthNet and remains in critical condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Winfield FD, HealthNet 3, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County EMS, WV State Police, and WV DOT were all on the scene.
