CLAY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting in Maysel, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers and deputies from Clay County responded to a reported shooting in Maysel on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
When authorities arrived at the residence, they located the victim, Savannah Keaton, 31, of Massillon, inside the home. Keaton was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as Richard Grad, 24, of Maysel, allegedly fled the scene after the shooting.
According to state police, Grad later met investigators at an alternate location, where he surrendered to authorities without incident.
Grad was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Following his arraignment, he was transported to Central Regional Jail.
Officials said the victim’s family has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
