CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – During the month of April, 2022, there were 1,172 new businesses registered throughout the State of West Virginia per Secretary of State Mac Warner.
Leading the pack in percentage of new business growth throughout the month was Clay County, which saw a 2.31% increase with the registration of five new businesses. Clay County was just one county to experience substantial growth for the month, as the Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported substantial development in Summers, Braxton, Wyoming, and Hampshire counties.
Wyoming and Braxton counties each saw 11 new business entities registered in April, while for Summers County, that number was 14. Hampshire County saw 21 new businesses registered with the office of the Secretary of State.
Kanawha, Monongalia, Jefferson, Berkeley, and Cabell counties had the highest total business registrations last month,, with 95 registered in Monongalia County, 50 in Jefferson County, 55 in Cabell County, and 146 for Kanawha County.
In the 12-month period from May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022, the state of West Virginia registered 12,677 new businesses. Summers County was the leader among state counties in regard to growth rate, with a rate of 29.45% over this one-year period.
