MERCER COUNTY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – One man has died after being struck by two cars in Mercer County.
According to reports from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, officers were dispatched to the area of Oakvale Road, near Dairy Queen, to investigate a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies found the 28-year-old male that had possibly been struck first by a black vehicle.
After being struck the first time, the man remained on the road for nearly 20 minutes before motorists discovered that it was a person in the road. At that time, the man was struck a second time by a driver who contacted Mercer County 911.
The man later died at Princeton Community Hospital where he was transported following the incident.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Bureau is requesting that anyone who was in the Oakvale Road area or near the Dairy Queen between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., who may have seen a pedestrian in the area or has any further information regarding the incident, contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department at 304-487-8364.
The department is also asking that any garages, body shops, and other businesses or individuals associated with the repair of vehicles be on the lookout for suspicious repair requests.
