BECKLEY, WV- (LOOTPRESS)- The race for the 5th District of the West Virginia State Senate has been officially called for Democratic incumbent Robert H. “Bob” Plymale (D). Plymale, who previously served as the Senate Majority Chair for Education, defeated challenger Charles Shaffer (R) by a margin of 6%. Plymale has served as a Senator for West Virginia’s 5th District since he was first elected in 1992.
Lootpress spoke to Plymale upon the news of his win, and Plymale said, “I am satisfied to have won and will continue to serve the people of West Virginia by looking at broadband access, education, and improving the economy to continue growing jobs in the state.”
Plymale has served as a State Senator for 28 years representing Cabell and Wayne counties.
When asked about his plans for his upcoming term, Plymale said “The biggest issue I am concerned with and that I have heard the most about from my constituents is making sure West Virginia has adequate broadband access that allows us to be a competitor in a 21st-century economy.”
