PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tractor-trailer flipped and took down power lines near Jays Lane in Princeton, WV around 6:30 am.
According to police, the male driver fell asleep while driving southbound on I-77.
Princeton Police Chief Tim Gray was driving and observed the truck travel down an embankment where it struck power lines and flipped on its side.
Chief Gray was helped by two other policemen to get the driver out of the truck. The Princeton Rescue Squad and volunteer fire departments also helped to rescue a female passenger.
Both occupants escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Princeton Community Hospital according to Trooper Zachary Duke.
As of 4:12 pm, 55 residents are out of power as reported by Appalachian Power. The outage will not be resolved until 6:30 pm.
