MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Police are warning the public of reports of a new scam call going around.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports from citizens regarding scam phone calls.
The caller identifies himself as Lt. James Perry notifying citizens of Civil Service Taxes and demanding payment to avoid arrest.
Police ask the public to please be aware that you will never be asked to pay money over the phone to avoid arrest.
If someone calls you and demands you get prepaid cards and give them the numbers, it is a scam.
