BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An array of emergency service vehicles could be seen positioned at the strip of establishments along Airport Road Tuesday evening in response to reports of a potential fire situation in the area.
The scene unfolded just as the sun was making its decent on Tuesday, as scarlet hues from emergency vehicles could be seen throughout the surrounding area with increasing prominence as the sunlight faded.
Despite minor traffic congestion along the adjacent Ritter Drive, traffic along Airport Road continued to flow as the scene was investigated, with no road closures having been implemented and emergency services utilizing the space allotted by business parking in the area, as well as across the street.
Beaver Volunteer confirmed their response to the scene Tuesday for the investigation of what was reported as a “possible fire in the Antique Mall strip in Beaver.
Neighboring departments were confirmed to have responded as well, with Ghent Volunteer Fire Department seen at the site of the incident, and Coal City Volunteer Fire Department confirming their response to a structure fire call at the same time.
Emergency services appeared to have been responding to the release of unexpected smoke in the area, with a representative for the El Mariachi restaurant along Airport Road in the midst of the commotion having implied this as well, stating,
”Think there might [have] been some type of smoke next door at the gambling spot but it’s all clear now and the firetrucks and personnel have left the area.”
The Beaver Volunteer Fire Department also confirmed that the scene had been cleared just over half an hour following the initial report of an investigation into a potential fire situation.
”[Fire Department] units investigated and found the source of the smoke,” read a statement from the department at 5:50pm on Tuesday. “Units have cleared the scene.”
