BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Tuesday, October 25th, the Beckley Quota Club hosted its Pretty in Pink event which Access Health sponsored. The event sold out, with over 100 attending to support breast cancer awareness and raise money for the Quota Club’s projects. The main objective of the fundraising event was to create and deliver at least 100 care packages for individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment at the Carl Larson Cancer Center. The kits will be filled with comfort items used during long treatments. The event was held at Black Knight County Club, where attendees were treated to a delicious buffet dinner and a performance from Lee Dean, a local entertainer. There were guest speakers, including Dr. Angel Rosas and breast cancer survivors. A live auction was also held to benefit Quota Club’s missions.
Quota Club of Beckley was chartered in 1963 and is part of a much larger international service organization. Their service mission focuses on deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and disadvantaged women and children from the Beckley area. They also support local food charities through their Empty Bowls events throughout the year.
This was the first ‘Pretty in Pink’ event Quota Club has hosted since the beginning of Covid-19 limitations began in 2020. Their next event is Signing Santa for deaf and hearing-impaired children from Raleigh County. The event will be held at Beckley Dream Center and will feature a Santa to sign with children during a Christmas Party. Local high school ASL students also get involved by dressing as reindeer and other Christmas characters to help with the event.
If you would like to support the ‘Pretty in Pink’ fundraiser, there is still time! Texas Roadhouse in Beckley has chosen Quota Club for their dine-and-donate cause for the next two days. October 26th and 27th Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of food purchases that mention the event to the Quota Club. If you plan to dine out or carry out today or tomorrow, be sure to stop by and support Quota Club and its many charitable causes.
