Mother Nature was at again Sunday washing out their scheduled game at Champion City.
Sunday’s game will be made-up as part of a doubleheader July 10, starting at 4:05 p.m in Springfield, Ohio.
West Virginia was coming off a solid 13-3 win Saturday night over Rex Baseball in Terre Haute, Ind.
After giving up four home runs to the Rex in Friday’s loss, the Miners hit four of their own Saturday as part of an 18-hit attack.
West Virginia plated nine runners before allowing a Rex player to touch home.
Coby Tweeten hit one of the long balls and had four hits total in the contest. The Bethune Cookman product had four RBI in the win.
Blake Lazaris also had a home run and drove in four runs, while Josh Griffin and Barrett Riebock had three hits apiece.
Eddie Leon hit his third home run of the year and Alex Christie hit his first of the season.
Brett Whiteman pitched six strong innings without walking a batter to collect the win and Caleb White covered the final three frames allowing just one hit.
West Virginia is off Monday before hosting Chillicothe Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games will be a 6:35 p.m. start at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
After the two-game set with the Paints, the Miners will on the road Thursday and Friday at Johnstown before playing a doubleheader Saturday at Chillicothe.
