POCA – Poca quarterback Jordan Wolfe ran for three touchdowns, including a 4-yard game-winner in the fourth quarter, to lead the second-ranked Dots to a 26-21 victory over the ninth-ranked Skyhawks in a battle of Class AA ranked teams Friday night at O.O. White Stadium.
Wolfe scored on runs of 6, 13 and 4 and tossed a 58-yard touchdown to Toby Payne to help the Dots remain unbeaten on the year.
After a scoreless first quarter, Scott and Poca exploded for 41 second quarter points with the Skyhawks holding a 21-20 lead at halftime.
Sophomore quarterback Matt Frye completed 15-of-25 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Brinegar had a 44-yard touchdown reception, Preston Cooper an 11-yarder and Isiah Bush hauled in 67-yard touchdown seconds before halftime for the Skyhawks. Cooper Martin rushed for 86 yards on 17 carries.
Malakai Woodard-Jones ran for 60 yards on 12 carries for the top-ranked Dots, who travel to second-ranked Herbert Hoover next week in a matchup of Class AA top two ranked teams.
Scott, who has two-of-its-last-three to Class AA ranked opponents, falls to 5-3 on the season and will host AA No. 16 Winfield.
